Just when I was all cozy and asleep and bed, I hear it! MEOW! MEOW! MEOW! Uh-oh! Another case of the midnight meows! I awoke and there sat Patrick right in my face meowing! While the view was precious, the 2 am meowing was not. I sat up with him for 20  minutes trying to get him back to sleep,  turns out kitties are stubborn lol he looked at me as if to say, "Oh no! I slept during the day, If you wanted some sleep, you should have done the same!" Reeses was NOT happy with him! She wanted to sleep but apparently his meowing was keeping her awake. Finally,  he crawled back in his bed and he and Reeses  drifted off to kitty wonderland. Its annoying getting up at 2 am hearing meowing, but I would'nt trade it for anything! Im so lucky that Patrick and Reeses chose our family as there furrever family and home.

If your like me, you want to do alot to help animals but just cant afford it. Here are some things you can do in your free time that will help animals, oh yeah, and they are free!

1) Click everyday at the Animal Rescue Site,everytime you click, you help feed shelter animals. http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=3&link=ctg_ars_home_from_ars_thankyou_leftnav_logo (also when you buy things from them they donate food)

2) Go to free sample sites and see if they have pet food. Animal shelters will appreciate any donation big or small. I recieved a free sample of Rachel Ray Dog Food for the shelter and it is a pretty good size. I have more coming too!

3) Clip coupons and send them to the animal shelter. Every penny saved counts!

4) Save old newspapers. Shelters use these to line the cages.

5) Start recycling aluminum cans. Donate the money you get from selling them to the animal shelter.

6) Instead of throwing away old blankets and towels, donate them to the shelter. They use these for beds for puppies and kittens.

7) If you have free time, consider virtual volunteering with an animal organization. Im volunteering with Best Friends Network, In Defense of Animals, and Wildlife Forever. These are all great organizations to volunteer with.

8) Encourage you friends and family to SPAY AND NEUTER their pets.

9) The ASPCA, HSUS, WSPA, and other animal organizations always have free things you can do on their site to help animals such as signing petitions, projects, etc.

10)Anytime you suspect animal cruelty, REPORT IT!

Hey everybody Reeses here! I just woke up from a nap in the sun because I wanted to tell you about a new project that Me and Patrick (with help with our owners) is working on! Its called the Pet Postcard Project! You make postcards of your pets, and send them in and wha la! For every card you send, 1lb of food is donated to an animal shelter!! Everybody wins, your pets get the satisfaction of knowing that you are showing them off and you know that you just helped puppies and kitties! The link is below with all the directions and whatnot. Hey Everyone! I wanted to tell yall about our club Animal Alliance. We are a group from south Mississippi who love animals and want to do whatever it takes to help them. This year, we will be holding our 2nd annual Santa Paws Drives for our local no kill shelter. We buy and collect food, supplies and toys for them. Its a blessing to know you are making a difference in their lives and knowing that you helped bring them some Christmas cheer! This gets expensive because the shelter has around 100 cats and dogs. This year we are having a magazine fundraiser to try to raise some money to buy the food/supplies/toys. The catnip addiction. All cat owners have been through this. This is one of the funniest things a cat will ever do! Yesterday, we were sitting in the living room with Patrick who let's face it, is a catnip addict. One minute he was fine the next minute he was rolling on his back, eyes black as could be, and a look of pure happiness and joy on his face. Yes, he had found the catnip and was now on a catnip high. The toy was tossed, bit, scratched and slobbered on. It is so funny  to me how this one little plant can make the sweetest of cats turn into a holy terror. Ever since we adopted him he has loved catnip. He would always head straight for the catnip bag when his toys were put out and after several hours of running around like a maniac, he would calm down. It wasn't until a few months ago, we found Reeses was becoming an addict. She has always been the calm, cool, collected one. Apparently, her and Patrick have meetings when we are not around lol and now she is hooked on the nip  too!! She waits until no one is looking and heads straight for her catnip toys and away she goes! For her, it starts with her eyes turning black, then, next thing you know she is standing on her hind legs throwing (yes throwing) her toys around! I find it so funny, and again, it amazes me how this one little plant can send a cat into such a frenzy! It reminds me of the age ol' question, "If you don't talk to your cat about catnip, who will?"
